Ship Report by Tyesha Collier, Landry & Kling Sales Administrator, Client Services
If you’re seeking a unique and unforgettable venue for your next corporate meeting, incentive, or group event, look no further than Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas. Recently, I was invited to sail on this colossal ship during its inaugural voyage from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida to The Bahamas. It was an extraordinary experience!
Utopia of the Seas was built to amaze and delight every generation during short 3- and 4-night tropical cruises, making it an ideal setting for any MICE gathering. I am excited to share my report and photos to give you a taste of what Utopia has to offer your group.
The Accommodations
The ship has 2,835 guest rooms and a diverse range of accommodation types, ensuring that every attendee’s needs and preferences are met. From spacious suites with private balconies to cozy interior staterooms providing a virtual balcony (with live footage of outside views), there’s an option for everyone. Meanwhile, the Boardwalk View Balcony rooms provide a unique perspective of the ship’s lively boardwalk area, ideal for people-watching and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.
Meeting and Event Spaces
The ship offers complimentary use of state-of-the-art conference rooms, theaters, and lounge areas perfect for breakout sessions or networking events. The largest theater can accommodate up to 1397,, ensuring ample space for your event. To power up your presentations, take advantage of Utopia’s complimentary access to professional lighting and sound equipment. (Note: Use of A/V and multimedia is included, but service fees for tech support may apply.)
Activities for All Ages
Bars, Lounges, and Entertainment
In the evenings, Utopia of the Seas comes alive with show-stopping entertainment across air, ice, water, and stage, including spectacular high-diving shows in the Aquatheater. And there’s never an entrance fee!
Culinary Adventures
There are 22 dining venues onboard, so when hunger strikes, the ship’s diverse options ensure your attendees will be spoiled for choice. The Windjammer Marketplace serves an impressive complimentary buffet with international flavors, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. I was fortunate to receive an invitation to The Chef’s Table, where culinary artistry and whimsical presentations took center stage. This upscale dining experience left me absolutely blown away!
The Royal Railway, a locomotive-themed restaurant designed to mimic a luxurious train ride, and The Mason Jar, for a classic southern-cooked meal, are just a few of the unique dining experiences you can look forward to. For those who love sushi and hibachi delights, Izumi is a must-visit.
While there is a charge for some specialty restaurants, all meals in the main dining rooms, Windjammer Cafe, and several other eateries are included, simplifying your planning and reducing your F&B expenses.
Activities – What to do Onboard
Thrill-seekers like me can get their adrenaline fix on the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea, or catch a wave on the FlowRider surf simulator. When it was time to relax, I headed to the Solarium, a tranquil, adults-only retreat with stunning ocean views. But the activities don’t stop there—from deck 16 to deck 5, you can experience anything from the sports complex to mini golf, ice skating, comedy shows, dance lessons, shopping, and more!
Planning a family program? The Adventure Ocean youth program provides engaging activities for kids of all ages.
Destination Highlight: Perfect Day at CocoCay
Every Utopia of the Seas cruise includes a full day at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay. This tropical paradise is packed with unique activities to suit every taste. Thrill Waterpark features North America’s tallest waterslide, while Chill Island offers pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for lounging and snorkeling. Perfect Day at CocoCay excursions include swimming with the pigs, soaring above the island on the 1,600-foot-long zip line, or taking in the views from a helium balloon ride.
This is More Than a Cruise!
Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas isn’t just a cruise; it’s a floating city designed to inspire, engage, and entertain. The ship is now sailing 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday getaways from Port Canaveral to Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau in The Bahamas.
