Held in Glasgow, Scotland, in November 2021, the global COP26 conference was the stage for big decisions on the climate and also the scene of dramatic protests. But behind the scenes, a very different drama played out as two cruise ships were drafted in to house essential workers to keep the show rolling, with Inchcape Shipping Services as the main support act.

Congestion blamed on deployment, not lack of cruise ports

UN climate change summit to use Silja Europa as accommodation ship
September 24, 2021, Offshore Energy / Tallink Grupp’s cruise vessel Silja Europa will provide accommodation during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) taking place in Glasgow, Scotland on 31 October – 12 November 2021. During the charter, the 1993-built vessel will be berthed in Scotland between 21 October and 14 November and will provide accommodation and catering services to approximately 1500 charterer’s personnel and guests…Silja Europa has been chartered via specialist company Landry & Kling Global Cruise Services
Bahamas Paradise steps up in hurricane charter deal for Entergy
