As more details emerge about MS Koningsdam, we can only say: Wow- this is not your grandmother’s cruise ship! In fact, Holland America’s new Pinnacle Class ship will redefine “modern classic elegance” in the premium ship category when she sets sail in spring 2016.
Last month we shared news about Koningsdam’s new choice of culinary venues, including a Culinary Arts Center and an intimate French seafood brasserie. Now, we are equally excited about the ship’s new entertainment experience and choice of unique venues (which can also be used for extraordinary meetings and group events).
Music Walk, featuring three unique stages:
Lincoln Center Stage
Holland America now has an exclusive partnership with Lincoln Center, the world’s leading performing arts center. Lincoln Center Stage will showcase world-class musicians performing chamber music nightly in an elegant setting. The ensemble will also play afternoon recitals during days at sea.
Spanning two decks, the striking Queen’s Lounge theater will be home to Holland America’s popular BB King’s Blues Club, bringing the best of Memphis music to sea. Following the evening entertainment, the Queen’s Lounge will transform into a late-night dance club with state-of-the-art sound and special LED lighting effects.
This new live interactive music experience was created in partnership with Billboad and will showcase live musicians and a DJ, who take turns performing dynamic shows. Guests are part of the show, as the live musicians rock the crowd with 50 years of chart-topping hits. Between sets and songs, guests can sing and play along with trivia questions presented on screens throughout the room.
World Stage, an extraordinary theater at sea
Entertainment meets innovation on Koningsdam with a stunning theater featuring a 2 story, 250 feet-long high-definition LED screen, immersing the audience in a panorama of sight and sound. This flexible space can have multiple stage configurations, ranging from in-the-round to the more conventional proscenium staging. Enhanced by state-of-the-art lighting, projection and sound systems, the screens enable the World Stage to change throughout the day to present anything the designers can imagine. Imagine what YOU can do with this space!
