Silversea recently invited top travel agent partners and media to preview their new 596-passenger Silver Muse during the “shakedown cruise” to test the ship. I had the honor of representing Landry & Kling Global Cruise Events on the day Silver Muse was delivered from the shipyard in Genoa.
We flew to Milan one day early to kick off the event, and Silversea treated us to a gala dinner at Villa Necchi Campiglio with an opera concert by members of Teatro Alla Scala Academy – what an amazing experience! The next day, we boarded Silver Muse in Genoa and set sail for Marseilles.
Our suite was spacious and sumptuous, with floor-to-ceiling doors that opened up to a private veranda. Everyone found hard hats in their suites along with an invitation to wear them to the welcome reception hosted by Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio.
Why hard hats? Mr. d’Ovidio wanted to remind us that it was a shakedown cruise and all might not be perfect on the very first sailing. But even fresh from the shipyard, my impression of Silver Muse was that it was remarkably shipshape.

The ship is simply stunning, with a soothing color scheme and European styling that Silversea says “whispers luxury”. I wholeheartedly agree! On board we sampled fine dining in 8 specialty restaurants, and were treated to luxury service by our private butlers in our suites.
From Marseilles, we sailed to Tarragona, Spain. Here, Silversea had organized an event at Ferrari World on their opening day. The cruise culminated in beautiful Barcelona, the cruise ship capital of Europe.
