Continuing medical education program in Alaska for physicians specializing in reproductive medicine. (300 people)
This educational program included 18 hours of meetings during a 10-night cruise-tour which combined a 7-night cruise and 3-nights hotel in Alaska, plus Denali National Park via the scenic Alaska railway. Program speakers were the leading experts in their field which prompted a larger-than-average turn out. At the time, this was the largest group movement in Alaska to use the cruise-hotel-train facilities.
A medical group that stages eight postgraduate courses every year always needs to scout out new meeting sites. They look for appealing locations that will attract enough members to off-set meeting costs, generate new membership and compare favorably to competitive courses.
The American Fertility Society found just that in an Alaska Cruise-Tour package which let them set up the course in Vancouver and Anchorage, with opportunities for continued case discussions and networking in between destinations and aboard ship.
