Beginning in 2018, you can offer your incentive travel group in-depth destination experiences that are both immersive and submersive. French cruise line Ponant will introduce four “Explorer Class” ships with some surprising features for expedition cruises.

Sure to be a hit on the new ships: An underwater observation lounge and bar with large picture windows (rendering above) – the perfect spot to meet for drinks and watch the marine life swimming by.

The ships will also  boast Infinity glass-edged swimming pools, allowing guests to swim right to the side of the vessel – another first for an expedition ship. Each vessel accommodates 184 passengers in 92 balcony staterooms and will also be equipped with a fitness center and spa, formal and casual dining venues, and a variety of lounges and bars.

The five-star expedition ships will be “Ice Class” ranked, enabling them to cruise to Polar regions and maneuver through secluded coves off-limits to large ships. Itineraries have not been released, but Ponant promises voyages to destinations as diverse as the Great Lakes, Panama Canal, Amazon, Baltic Sea, Indian Ocean, Great Barrier Reef and Mediterranean.
